GATE 2021 syllabus has been released by IIT Delhi on the official website. Candidates can check the syllabus for all 25 papers including the syllabus of newly added Biomedical Engineering subject through GATE portal. By GATE 2021 syllabus candidates can check all the important topics and subjects. Candidates must know the topics and subjects of the GATE entrance exam before starting preparation. Latest Changes in GATE 2021 Syllabus:
  • The exam conducting body IIT Delhi has added Biomedical engineering as a new subject from this session.
  • Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE)  has not yet declared as compulsory exit test for engineering graduates.

GATE 2021 Syllabus for General Aptitude (GA)

General Aptitude (GA) is a common section in all the GATE Papers and consists of 15% of the total marks. The questions in GA are generally based on verbal ability and numerical ability. The subsections of the GA sectionincludes the following topics:

GATE 2021 Syllabus

Candidates can check the GATE 2021 topics & chapters-wise syllabus of each subject from below. Bio-medical Engineering (BM) has been added a new subject in the GATE 2021 syllabus. From 2021, GATE entrance test will be conducted for 25 papers.

GATE Syllabus of Aerospace Engineering (AE)

The Aerospace Engineering subject is divided into two categories: core topics & special topics. Core topics mainly cover 90% of the syllabus while special topics cover 10% of the syllabus.

Section 1 (Engineering Mathematics):
  • Core Topics: Linear Algebra, Calculus and Differential Equations.
  • Special Topics: Fourier series, Laplace Transforms, Numerical methods for linear and nonlinear algebraic equations, Numerical integration and differentiation.
Section 2 (Flight Mechanics):
  • Core Topics: Basics, Airplane performance & Static stability.
  • Special Topics: Dynamic stability: Euler angles, Equations of motion, aerodynamic forces and moments, stability & control derivatives, decoupling of longitudinal and lateral-directional dynamics, longitudinal modes, lateral-directional modes.
Section 3 (Space Dynamics):
  • Core Topics: Determination of trajectory, Central force motion and orbital period in simple cases.
  • Special Topics: Orbit transfer, in-plane and out-of-plane.
Section 4 (Aerodynamics):
  • Core Topics: Basic Fluid Mechanics, Airfoils and wings & Compressible Flows.
  • Special Topics: Elementary ideas of viscous flows including boundary layers, Wind Tunnel Testing: Measurement and visualization techniques.
Section 5 (Structures):
  • Core Topics: Strength of Materials, Flight vehicle structures & Structural Dynamics.
  • Special Topics: Vibration of beams, Theory of elasticity: Equilibrium and compatibility equations, Airy’s stress function.
Section 6 (Propulsion):
  • Core Topics: Basics, Thermodynamics of aircraft engines, Axial compressors, Axial turbines, Centrifugal compressor & Rocket propulsion.
  • Special Topics: No Special Topics.

GATE 2021 Exam Pattern

After checking the syllabus of GATE exam, the candidate must check the GATE 2021 exam pattern which defined the number of questions, type of question, marking scheme, papers, etc. Total of 65 questions will be asked in the GATE exam. The whole exam is of three hours. The question paper is of 100 marks. The whole question paper is divided into two sections: Multiple Choice questions and Numerical Answers Type Questions. One or two marks will be given to the applicants for correct answers and the negative marking depends on the marks of questions. One-third of the marks will be deducted for incorrect answer.
