GATE 2021 Eligibility Criteria must be checked by the applicants who are appearing for GATE 2021, before applying for it. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or GATE which offer admission in M.Tech and M.E is a national level exam to provide admission in various IITs and NITs colleges. This exam is conducted once in a year in rotational organizing authority. This article is related to GATE eligibility, so candidates must-read.

GATE 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfil the eligibility of GATE to appear for the exam. The GATE 2021 eligibility are given below:

General Eligibility for GATE 2021 

  • There is no age limit for this exam.
  • Only those candidates who have completed their degree are eligible for this exam.
  • Final year candidates or result waiting candidates also apply for the exam.
  • This exam also not have any fixed percentage criteria.
  • Candidates have no limits of attempt for the exam.
  • If candidates has already passed the qualifying exam, they have to submit the degree certificate/provisional certificate/course completion certificate/professional certificate/membership certificate issued by the institute or society. 
  • The applicants will need to upload the certificate from the Head of the Department/Institute or a copy of the mark sheet for Section A of AMIE.

 Some of these Professional Societies/Institutions, which conduct the examination in various fields of engineering, are as follows:

  • The Institution of Engineers (India) (IE)
  • The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
  • The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE)
  • The Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI)
  • The Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, including Polymer and Environmental Group
    (IIChemE)
  • The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM)
  • The Indian Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE)
Note: If a candidate is pursuing any higher degree or has already obtained a degree higher than that mentioned, the candidate should select the minimum required qualifying degree while filling the application form.

The candidates who hold the certification from any of the professional societies must ensure that the examinations organised by the societies are approved by MHRD/AICTE/UGC/UPSC as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch./B.Planning etc.

For Foreign Applicants:

The applicants who have obtained or are pursuing their qualifying degree from the countries other than India:

  • The applicants must have completed or are in the final year of their Bachelor's degree (at least 4 years) in Engineering/ Technology or
  • The candidates must have completed or are in the final year of their Post Graduate degree (for at least 2 years) in any relevant subjects in science.
