UGC NET 2023: Answer Key Released, Exam date (5-19 March) Phase 5

UGC NET Result 2023: National Testing Agency (NTA) will announce results of the December 2022 cycle of University Grants Commission- National Eligibility Test or UGC NET today, April 13. Candidates can check it on ugcnet.nta.nic.in and ntaresults.nic.in. UGC-NET is conducted twice every year (June & December).

UGC NET Latest Updates

• UGC-NET December 2023 cycle will be conducted by NTA from 6th December to 22nd December 2023. The application process details will be announced by NTA soon on its website https://www.nta.ac.in/

UGC NET 2023 Application Form

• Before applying for UGC NET, candidates must go through the complete information bulletin and details of the application process. Also, students must be ready with all the documents required at the time of registration.
• UGC NET application form is available on the NTA official website (National Testing Agency).
• Candidates can submit only one application.
• Candidates had to ensure that the e-mail address and Mobile Number provided in the Online Application Form is theirs as all information/communication was to be sent by NTA through the e-mail address or SMS on the given Mobile Number only.
• Applicants must note that the no change in the online application form will be accepted via fax/application or an email, etc.

Steps to fill UGC NET 2023 Online Application

The following online steps will guide the aspiring candidates to understand the procedure of the application form and fill the form:

• Step 1: Fill in the Online Application Form and note down the system generated Application No.
• Step 2: Enter all the details asked in the UGC NET 2023 application form.
• Step 3: Upload scanned images of photographs and signatures in JPG/JPEG format.
• Step 4: Pay the application fee using SBI/HDFC/Syndicate/ICICI Payment Gateway and keep proof of fee paid.
• Step 5: Print at least four copies of the Confirmation Page after successful remittance of fee.

UGC NET 2023 Application Fee

• NTA does not accept any other mode of payment i.e. Demand Draft /Cheque/Cash/IPO/Money Order etc.
• After successful payment, the candidate will be able to print the Confirmation Page.

UGC NET 2023 Application Correction

UGC NET application correction window will be active for the candidates who want to edit their application form. Students were able to make corrections only through online mode on the website. The complete details related to editable and non-editable fields will be available on the website. Also, students will be informed about the correction window through mail and SMS. No modification will be allowed after the last date of correction.

UGC NET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must have a minimum of 55% marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC whereas, the Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Transgender category candidates must have at least 50% marks in their Master’s Degree for NET eligibility.
• Candidates who are currently pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course or candidates who have appeared for their final year exam of Master’s degree and waiting for their result or candidates whose qualifying examination has been delayed will also be eligible for the exam.      
• Candidates who belong to the transgender category would be eligible to draw the same relaxation in fee, age and qualifying criteria for NET as are available to SC/ST/PwD categories. 

Age limit and Relaxation for UGC NET

• Not more than 31 years as on March 2023. 
• A relaxation of up to 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST/PwD/Transgender categories and women applicants. 
• Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates with research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant/related subject of post-graduation degree, subject to a  maximum of 5 years, on the production of a certificate from the appropriate authority. 
• Candidates with L.L.M. Degree will get three years of relaxation in age. 
• Candidates who have served in the armed forces subject to the length of service in the armed forces up to the first day of the month in which the concerned UGC-NET is to be held will also get a relaxation of up to 5 years.

Exemption (Eligibility for Assistant Professor)

• Applicants must have cleared either NET/SET/SLET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors in Universities/Colleges/Institutions. However, in this regard, exemption from NET/SET/SLET will be governed by UGC regulations and amendments notified in the Gazette of India from time to time.
• Candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR/JRF examination before 1991 are also exempted from appearing in NET.
• For SET Candidates: The candidates who have cleared the States Eligibility Test (SET) for Assistant Professor held before 1st June 2002, are exempted from appearing in NET, and are eligible to apply for Assistant Professor anywhere in India.

UGC NET 2023 Answer Key

• National Eligibility Test Answer Key will be available in online mode.
• NTA will release the provisional answer key for each paper separately.
• The response key/answer key contain the correct answers to the questions asked in the papers.
• Candidates can challenge the answer key by submitting the fee of Rs. 1000/- for each question.

UGC NET 2023 Result

• UGC NET scorecard can be downloaded by entering the roll number, application number and date of birth.
• Details like name, category, total marks, scores obtained in each paper.
• The result will be available only through online mode on the website. No candidate will be intimated about result individually.
• Students will be able to know their marks through the website which will be published by NTA after one week of the announcement of the result
• No mark sheet will be issued by NTA authority for the candidates.

E-Certificates

The national testing agency (NTA) will release the e-certificates for UGC NET and Joint CSIR UGC NET online. 

• Candidate can download the E-certificate using Application Number or Roll Number of UGC-NET December 2020 and Date of Birth.

UGC NET 2023 Cut Offs

After the commencement of the examination, NTA releases cut off marks for each post – ‘Assistant Professor or JRF and Assitant Professor’. Cut off marks are released for each subject and each category of UGC NET 2023. Given below are the minimum qualifying marks required to clear Paper 1 and Paper 2.

UGC NET 2023 July Cycle Selection Process

The Top 6% of the total students who will qualify the exam (both Paper 1 and 2) will be only considered qualified. Candidates will be given admission for the post of JRF or Assistant professor into various Indian institutes and universities based on cut off secured as per the category. For the post of Assistant Professor, top 15% qualified candidates from each category will get selected and considered eligible.

UGC NET 2023 Admit Card

• The Admit Card has been released in online mode only.
• Candidates must carry their admit card along with any of the photo id proof (Aadhar Card, Driving License, and Voter Card, etc.) with them on the exam day.
• Furthermore, the candidates must keep their admit card safely for further procedure of admission as they will not be issued any duplicate admit card.
• No Admit Card shall be issued to the candidates whose applications are found to be incomplete for any reasons (including indistinct/doubtful photographs/unsigned Applications) or who do not fulfil the eligibility criteria for the examination.

Guidelines on the Exam Day of UGC NET 2023

Candidates who are issued with UGC NET 2023 Admit Card will have to follow the following instructions on the day of examination.

• Candidates must appear for the test at the allotted exam centre only.
• Inattention to, COVID-19 pandemic, candidates are advised to wear masks and maintain social distancing at the exam centre.
• Entry to the exam centre is closed 1 hour before the exam while entry to the exam hall is closed 30 minutes before the exam. Candidates must report to the centre at least 02 hours before the exam commences.
• Candidates must bring the admit card for the UGC NET 2023 exam hall in the printed format.
• In addition to the admit card, one must also carry one identical passport-sized photograph for pasting in the attendance sheet.
• Candidates must also carry a photo identity card for the verification of identity.
• One must not carry any baggage inside the exam hall.
• Candidates are not allowed to leave their seats once the exam starts until the entire duration of the exam is completed.
• Rough sheets must be handed over to the invigilator before leaving the exam hall.
• Candidates are not allowed to carry any eatables or other beverages inside the exam hall.
• One must refrain from using unfair means strictly during the exam

About National Testing Agency 

Until 2018 the test was conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education but now December 2018 onwards, National Testing Agency is conducting it successfully. It is a National Agency approved by the Union Council of Ministers established in November 2017. The main aim of NTA is to conduct entrance examinations for higher educational institutions. Other than JEE MAIN, NTA also conducts various exams like National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate, Common Management Admission Test and Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test.

Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) - UGC

The Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)  is a scheme of the University Grants Commission (UGC).  Candidates who qualify in the National Eligibility Test-Junior Research Fellowship(NET-JRF) of the UGC and the UGC-Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (UGC-CSIR) joint test are eligible for this fellowship.

The award of JRF and or Eligibility for Assistant Professor depends on the aggregate performance of the candidate in Paper-I and paper-II of UGC-NET.
