Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University (VBSPU) is a state university. The university is situated in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. The university was established in 1987. The university is named after the state's former chief minister Shri Vir Bahadur Singh. The university has over 470 Affiliated graduate and post-graduate colleges with it. The campus of the university is spread over 171.5 acres with the achievement of academic excellence, quality assurance in the higher education and socio-economic development of this highly backward and rural region are the priority areas for the university. The university has affiliated colleges in 12 districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. The university is UGC approved university. The university was established with a motive to make an environment to motivate and support the academia to undertake advanced studies and researches, to the benefit of the Nation and humanity as a whole.
