KEAM 2023 eligibility criteria will be announced by the Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE), Kerala. It is essential for candidates to meet these criteria in order to be eligible to appear for the exam and seek admission in various engineering, agriculture, veterinary, forestry, and pharmacy courses. Failure to meet the eligibility requirements will result in disqualification from the examination. Aspirants interested in applying for the Kerala Engineering, Architecture, Medical Entrance Examination must carefully review their eligibility for the specific course they wish to pursue. KEAM 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Age Criteria for KEAM 2023

The candidates must fulfil the below-mentioned age criteria to be eligible for KEAM:

  • The minimum age is 17 years of age as of 31 December 2023.
  • There is no relaxation in the minimum age for the candidates.
  • There is no upper age limit for Engineering, Architecture and B.Pharm Courses.
  • For Medical and Allied courses, the upper age limit will be as per the NEET (UG) 2020.

General Eligibility for KEAM 2023

The below-mentioned criteria are of the nativity of the candidates which are required for the KEAM exam:

  • Only Indian citizens are eligible for admission to the Professional courses unless notified.
  • Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) will also be treated as Indian citizens for the limited admission purpose.
  • However, PIO/OCI candidates will not be eligible for any kind of reservations.
  • Candidates seeking admission to Professional Degree courses will be categorised as Keralite, non-Keralite category I and non - Keralite category II.

Keralite
  • Only ‘Keralite’ candidates are eligible for Communal / Special / PwD reservation or any fee concession.
  • Children of All India Service (AIS) officers (Non-Keralites) allotted to Kerala cadre are deemed to be ‘Keralites’. But they will not be eligible for Communal/Special/ PwD reservation or any fee concession.
Non-Keralite Category I (NK I)
An applicant who doesn't belong to Kerala but fulfils anyone of the following conditions will be categorised as 'Non-Keralite Category I'(NK I).
  • A candidate who has passed qualifying course in Kerala and who is son /daughter of
    Non- Keralite parents belong to Government of India / Defence Service, posted to Kerala.
  • A candidate who has done a qualifying course in Kerala and who is son/daughter of
    Non-Keralite parents who are serving/have served Kerala Govt. for a minimum 2 years.
  • A candidate who has been a resident of Kerala State for 5 (five) years within 12 years of study.
  • A candidate who has done his/her school studies in Kerala from standard VIII to XII.
Non-Keralite Category II [NK II
  • Candidates who do not fall under the ‘Keralite’ or 'Non-Keralite Category I' will be considered as ‘Non-Keralite Category II'. Such candidates are eligible for admission to both Management & Govt. quota seats in Engineering course in Government-controlled Self-Financing colleges.
  • However, the ‘Non-Keralite Category II’ candidates will be considered for admission to the Government seats in Engineering courses in Government-controlled Self-Financing colleges only when the Keralite and Non- Keralite I candidates seats will be available vacant. 
  • Non-Keralite Category II’  candidates are also eligible for admission to both Government and Management quota seats in Private Self-financing Engineering / Architecture / Siddha colleges. But for Siddha course, ‘Non-Keralite Category II candidates will be considered only when the Keralite and Non-Keralite I candidates are not available for admission.
  • Non-Keralite Category II’ candidates are also eligible for admission to a maximum of 10% seats under Management Quota in Private Self Financing Pharmacy colleges subject to fulfilling the eligibility conditions.

Academic qualification required for KEAM 2023

The candidates will have to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria for KEAM as per the course they are applying for. Check the educational qualification details nearby;

  • For Medical & Allied Courses:

For admission to MBBS, BDS
Candidates who have passed in the subjects of
Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology with a minimum of 50% marks at the Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or examinations recognised equivalent thereto and also must have an English as a mandatory subject.
For admission to BAMS/ BHMS/BSMS courses
Candidates who have passed in the
subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate at the Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or examinations recognised equivalent thereto and must have English as a subject.
For admission to BUMS course
  • Candidates who have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate at the Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or examinations recognised equivalent thereto and should also have Eng. subject.
  • The candidates should have passed 10th or 12th standard with Urdu or Arabic or Persian language as a subject or clear the test of Urdu in the Entrance Examinations conducted by University or Board or Registered society authorized by the Govt. to conduct such examination or the Pre-Tib Examination of one-year duration.
For admission to B.Sc.(Hons.) Agri., B.Sc.(Hons) Forestry, BVSc courseCandidates should-haves passed Higher Secondary exam from a recognised board with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
For admission to BVSc. & AH Course
A candidate who have passed in the subjects of
English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology at the qualifying examination and obtained
50% marks in aggregate of these subjects are eligible.
B.Sc degree holders
Candidates who have passed the BSc Degree
examination with Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany or Biotechnology as Main and anyone or two of the above subjects as Subsidiaries, subject to the condition that they have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations recognised as equivalent thereto with a minimum 50% marks for Main & subsidiaries with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects are eligible for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS and BSMS courses.
 
Note - Only those candidates who qualify in NEET UG 2020 & satisfy the nativity condition shall be considered for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BSMS, BUMS, Agriculture, Forestry, Veterinary, Fisheries courses.
  • For Engineering courses ( B.Tech (Agri. Engg. and B.Tech (Food Technology courses, B.Tech (Dairy Technology) and B.Tech (Food Technology, B.Tech (Food Technology) - 
    • Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or Examinations
      recognized as equivalent thereto, with at least 45% marks in Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry as one of the optional subject put together in the above-mentioned subjects are eligible for admission.
    • In case, the candidate has not studied chemistry, then Computer Science marks shall be considered.
    • Biotechnology marks will be considered if a candidate has not studied Chemistry and Computer Science.
    • If a candidate has not studied Chemistry, Computer Science and Biotechnology subjects then the Biology marks will be considered.
    • The marks as shown in the mark list of the Board of board exam will be considered for eligibility.
  • For Architecture course
    • Candidates who have passed 12th examination with a minimum of 50% aggregate
      marks in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics and also with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate at 12th level exam or passed 10+3 Diploma examinations with at least 50% marks and should have Mathematics as a compulsory subject.
    • The candidates who have scored minimum eligibility marks in NATA 2020 will be considered for direct admission to B.Arch. 
  • For Pharm course
    • Candidates who have passed 10+2 examination with English as one of the subject & Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology as optional subjects individually from the recognised board/institute.

Relaxation in the marks for KEAM 2023

The candidates will be given relaxation in the marks for KEAM exam, the details are listed below:

  • MBBS/BDS course - for SC/ST or SEBC candidates the minimum marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-Technology is 40%, for PWD applicants the minimum marks required is 45%.
  • BAMS/ BHMS/BSMS/BUMS courses - for SC/ST or SEBC candidates, Physics, Chemistry and Biology took together, the minimum marks should be 40% and for PWD aspirants it is 45%.
  • B.Sc.(Hons.) Agri., B.Sc.(Hons) Forestry - BFSc courses applicants belonging to the SEBC and PWD candidates the marks required is 45% and for SC/ST candidates a minimum pass marks are necessary.
  • B.VSC & AH course - SEBC and PWD candidates the minimum required is 45% marks.
  • Engineering Courses - SC/ST/ SEB and PWD candidates the minimum marks will be relaxed by 5% marks with that from open categories.
  • Architecture course - SEBC and PWD candidates will be given a relaxation of 5% marks less than that prescribed for open categories. SC/ST applicants should have a minimum pass marks.

KEAM 2023 Admit Card

Authority will release the KEAM 2023 Admit Card, on the official website. Candidate must take a print of the hall ticket for further process. Admit card will contain essential information regarding the exam.
